An about to finish signal will be made on the Committee boat it being two sound signals and the flying of a blue flag. A blue flag may at the RC discretion be flown/waved at the leeward mark, and/ or the RC may broadcast on the working channel to indicate that all boats now approaching the leeward mark are to proceed straight to the finish after rounding the leeward mark.
Following this boats will be scored using the “Average lap system” method.

The racing on the first day was two superb windward leeward races with Mike Butterfield the Race Officer starting both IRC 1 and IRC 2 on the RDYC committee boat.
Competitors experienced a 46 knots squall with hail-stones providing extreme conditions for the two fleets
The IRC 4 class managed to finish their race before the squal hit

With an astonishing 7 firsts and 3 second places, Checkmate finished on 13 points, 12 points ahead of the second placed boat.
The Winter Series started on November 4th 2018 and finished on March 10th 2019, during which we encountered all types of testing weather.
